Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Wildcard Edition

The Montreal Canadiens face the New York Islanders with both teams looking to improve on their rocky seasons. The Canadiens have a 17-22-3 record and with only two wins in their last 10 games have fallen to last place in the Atlantic Division. The Islanders have a 22-18-3 record but with four losses in a row, they have fallen to sixth place in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams are looking to improve in their divisions and the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Canadiens are having a rough season with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.60 goals per game. Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, and Kirby Dach have scored 47 goals and 48 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only three skaters have eight goals or more while only five skaters have 11 assists or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has let the Canadiens down this year, allowing 3.79 goals per game with 30 goals in the last six games. Johnathan Kovacevic, Jordan Harris, and Chris Wideman have combined for 3.8 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Jake Allen has struggled with a .892 save percentage and a 3.52 goals-against average on 882 shots.
