The Ottawa Senators face the Colorado Avalanche with both teams looking to turn around difficult seasons. The Senators have a 19-19-3 record which is second worst in the Atlantic Division. The Avalanche have a 20-17-3 record and with back-to-back losses have fallen to the bottom of the Central Division. Both teams look to rebound in their divisions and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Senators are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.02 goals per game with five goals in their last game. Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stützle have scored 33 goals and 47 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has also been great. Alex DeBrincat, Claude Giroux, and Drake Batherson have combined for 42 goals and 71 assists while defensemen Thomas Chabot and Jake Sanderson have added nine goals and 29 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has stepped up but the defense has let the Senators down this season, allowing 3.17 goals per game including 14 goals in the last three games. Sanderson and Chabot have combined for 4.3 defensive point shares and 4.3 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. Additionally, goaltender Anton Forsberg has had a rocky season in the net with a .909 save percentage and a 3.04 goals-against average on 602 shots.
