The Marist Red Foxes are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Canisius Golden Griffins Friday night. Marist comes in off a 63-56 home win over Mount St. Mary’s in their previous contest Sunday, covering the line as a one-point favorite. Canisius dropped St. Peter’s 67-60 in overtime in their previous game on the road Sunday as they won outright as a three-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the Golden Griffins own a 35-21 advantage, including a 78-67 home win in the most recent matchup on March 3, 2022.

Marist snapped a five-game losing skid as they took down Mount St. Mary’s in their most recent contest at home on Sunday. The Red Foxes improved to 5-9 overall on the season and stand in the basement of the conference with a 1-4 record. Against Mount St. Mary’s, Marist led by seven with 5:08 to play in the first half before getting outscored 13-1 the rest of the half to trail by five at intermission. The Red Foxes trailed 40-38 with 13:08 to play before going on a 14-4 run over the next seven-plus minutes to take a 52-44 advantage with 5:45 to go and didn’t let the lead drop below six the rest of the way. Marist shot 44.4% from the field, including seven of 26 from three-point range, and forced 16 turnovers in the game. Patrick Gardner led the Red Foxes with 23 points and six boards in the win.

The Red Foxes are just 349th in the nation in scoring offense as they put up an average of only 62.4 points per game on the year. Marist is collecting an average of 34.6 boards a night and hand out an average of 11.1 assists per contest. The Red Foxes have been sharp defensively, ranking 123rd in scoring defense by allowing 67.1 points a night. Patrick Gardner is the lone player averaging in double figures this season as he puts up an average of 17.4 points plus seven rebounds and 2.2 assists a night. Noah Harris, Javon Cooley, Kam Farris, Anthony Cooper, Isaiah Brickner, Stephane Ingo, Jaden Daughtry, Trace Salton and Tyler Saint-Furcy all log solid minutes for coach John Dunne. Marist is shooting a dismal 39.5% from the field as a team this season. The Red Foxes are hitting 8.1 three-pointers a night despite hitting 31.4% from downtown.
