Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-14-2022

The St. Louis Cardinals (62-51) will host the Milwaukee Brewers (61-51) in the finale of a three-game series Sunday. The Cardinals took Friday's contests 3-1, and the Brewers answered with a 3-2 win in 10-innings Saturday.

This has been a balanced rivalry, with both teams winning seven out of the 14 head-to-head games this season.

Trailing the Cardinals by half a game in the NL Central, the St. Louis Cardinals have a shot to take over first place in the division if they can pull off an upset on Sunday. It won't be easy as the Brewers will send 24-year-old southpaw Aaron Ashby to the mound who has struggled with a 2-10 record, 4.32 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 21 games this season. Ashby will be making his second appearance against the Cardinals this season. On April 17 in Milwaukee, Ashby tossed four innings and allowed three unearned runs in a 6-5 win over the Cardinals. Asby lost his most recent start against the Reds last Saturday, allowing four earned runs in 4 2/3 innings.

The Brewers collected just four hits on Saturday but pulled off a quality win going a perfect 1 for 1 with runners in scoring position as Hunter Renfroe tripled home Andrew McCutchen in the top of the 10th inning, and Kolten Wong drove in the Brewers' third run on a sacrifice fly.
