Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Phoenix Suns Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-8-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas

The struggling Phoenix Suns try to snap a 5 game losing streak Sunday when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Suns are 20-20 on the season while the Cavaliers are 25-15. These two foes just played a few days ago on Jan. 4 in Cleveland, where the Cavs won 90-88. Tipoff is at 8:00 p.m. EST at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have won three of their last four games and have improved to 25-15. They are 4th in the Eastern Conference, just 2.5 games behind the first place Celtics. Just a few days ago, they hosted the Suns and prevailed with a 90-88 win. Evan Mobley made a 14 foot jumper with 4 seconds left to give the Cavs the win. It was a tough, hard-fought game between two physical teams. Both teams shot 39% from the floor. Caris Levert was the high scorer with 21 points while Donovan Mitchell added 20 points.

The Cavs followed that up with a 121-108 loss at Denver on the first game of a 5 game road trip. In the loss to the Nuggets, they allowed the Nuggets to shoot 53% from the floor and that typically won't get it done. But they did play without their leading scorer, Donovan Mitchell, who got the night off. But Mitchel is slated to play Sunday. Levert led the way with 22 points while Darius Garland added 21 points. The Cavs rank 25th in points per game and they rank first in points allowed.
