The LSU Tigers continue on their road back to prominence this season and sit at 12-2 on the season. LSU went 11-1 in non-conference play before dropping a tight game at Kentucky to fall to 1-1 in SEC play. The Tigers were efficient all night in the hostile environment. They shot 49% from the field overall and hit on 11-of-25 three-point shots. LSU also turned the ball over just nine times on the night and the Tigers' bench outscored Kentucky's bench 16-4. Ultimately, the Tigers were done in by a hot shooting Kentucky team that hit on nearly 52% of its shots and on the glass, out-rebounded 31-22 including a 10-5 edge on the offensive glass. KJ Williams led the Tigers with 23 points, including four from long range. Adam Miller had 15 points on the night, hitting on five 3pt shots.

“Credit to Kentucky. I thought it was a heck of a college basketball game. Both teams were probably better offensively than ex pected going in. Give them credit for finding ways to win; they hit some tough shots there late. We were finally able to get some stops in the last eight minutes a close the gap on the glass a little bit. They just make it so tough on you with Oscar in there on the glass and they hit some tough shots to win the game in the last minute and a half. I’m really proud of our players. We don’t have moral victories so I’m disappointed we weren’t able to find a way to win. I found out a lot about our team tonight. The character, the toughness, the things that need to be the building blocks to how we build this great LSU program moving forward.” LSU head coach Matt McMahon said after the game.

LSU has been very solid on the offensive end thus far. The Tigers are ranked 132nd in scoring offense thus far. They are ranked 87th in 3pt shooting as well. On the defensive side of things, LSU has the 47th ranked scoring defense and have been phenomenal on the perimeter, ranking 20th in 3pt defense. They are a middle of the road 182nd in the country in rebounding. They continue to improve in ball protection, ranking 127th in the country in turnovers.
