It’s a clash on the college hardwood when a pair of teams from the AAC tangle in Bluff City. The East Carolina Pirates are on the road as they travel to face the Memphis Tigers Saturday afternoon. East Carolina was defeated 64-61 by UCF at home in their previous game Thursday night, though they did cover the spread as a 5.5-point underdog. Memphis was knocked off 96-89 on the road by Tulane in their previous game Sunday, losing outright as a four-point favorite. In the all-time series between the teams, Memphis owns a 24-5 advantage, including a 71-54 home victory in the most recent matchup on January 27, 2022.

East Carolina lost for the second time in their last three games as they were knocked off by UCF at home Thursday night. The Pirates fell to 10-6 overall on the season and sat 1-2 in the conference after the defeat. Against UCF, East Carolina trailed by as many as seven in the first half before rallying to take a two-point lead at the half. The Pirates gave up a 9-0 run in the second half to trail 42-34 with 11:14 to play. They were unable to get closer than two the rest of the way to wind up on the short end of the scoreboard. East Carolina shot just 35.1% from the field, including eight of 27 from three-point range, and clanked nine of their 22 free throw attempts. RJ Felton and Brandon Johnson each had 16 points to lead the Pirates in the loss.

The Pirates are putting up an average of 71.2 points per game so far this season, which puts them 195th in scoring offense this season. East Ca rolina collects 37.8 rebounds per game while dishing out 13.7 assists per contest. The Pirates have been above average on the defensive end of the floor as they come in 175th in scoring defense by allowing 67.7 points a night. Javon Small leads the team with 15.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game on the season. Ezra Ausar, Jaden Walker, Quinton Diboundje, Kalib LaCount, Wynston Tabbs, Benjamin Bayela, Ludgy Debaut and Dave Kasanganay all are going to be looked to contribute for the Pirates to have success. East Carolina is shooting 41.5% from the field as a team this season. The Pirates knock down eight triples a night on 32.3% shooting from beyond the arc.
