The Detroit Red Wings face the Toronto Maple Leafs with both teams looking to improve in the Atlantic Division. The Red Wings have a 16-13-7 record while the Maple Leafs have a 23-9-7 record and are in second place in the division. Both teams are looking to improve in the division and the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.
The Red Wings are having a promising season with their offense scoring 3.06 goals per game. Dylan Larkin and Dominik Kubalik have scored 25 goals and 36 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has also been great. David Perron, Andrew Copp, and Lucas Raymond have combined for 25 goals and 45 assists while defensemen Filip Hronek and Olli Maatta have added 10 goals and 29 assists from the point to open up the offense.
The offense has stepped up but the defense has let the Red Wings down this year, allowing 3.33 goals per game. Hronek and Maatta have combined for 4.3 defensive point shares and 82 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Magnus Hellberg has struggled in the net with a .897 save percentage and a 2.74 goals-against average on only 97 shots.
