Florida Panthers vs. Detroit Red Wings Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-6-2023

The Florida Panthers face the Detroit Red Wings with both teams looking to rebound from rocky seasons. The Panthers have a 17-18-4 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division while the Red Wings have a 16-13-7 record and have only won three of their last 10 games. Both teams are looking to improve within the Atlantic Division and the Western Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one as result.

The Panthers are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.28 goals per game. Matthew Tkachuk and Carter Verhaeghe have scored 38 goals and 40 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has been great as well. Aleksander Barkov, Sam Bennett, and Sam Reinhart have combined for 29 goals and 50 assists while defensemen Brandon Montour and Gustav Forsling have added 11 goals and 44 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has let the Panthers down this season, allowing 3.41 goals per game with 12 goals in the last three games. Gustav Forsling and Joshua Mahura have combined for 4.6 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is having an awful season in the net with a .894 save percentage and a 3.32 goals-against average on 677 shots.
