Seahawks Odds to Make the Playoffs Provide Uphill Battle in Week 18
Seahawks Odds to Make the Playoffs Provide Uphill Battle in Week 18

While an 8-8 record wouldn't normally spell huge successes, the Seattle Seahawks can enter Week 18 knowing they accomplished something no expert in football was expecting. On the heels of losing Russell Wilson, who ended up in a dumpster fire situation in Denver, the Seahawks far outperformed preseason expectations.

And now the franchise enters the regular season finale in near total control of their own destiny.

Unfortunately, FanDuel Sportsbook's odds to make the playoffs prove Seattle still faces an uphill battle in Week 18.

Seattle is considered a -325 favorite to miss out on postseason play, holding just +250 odds to make playoffs as the NFC's No. 7 seed.

This scenario actually has little to do with Seattle. The Seahawks need two things to happen in the regular season finale to clinch a playoff spot. First, they must defeat the battered Los Angeles Rasm at home. They'll need some help in the form of a De troit Lions' win over the Green Bay Packers as well.

Seattle should have no issues topping the Rams. They already beat the Rams on the road a month ago and are considered -280 moneyline favorites in that clash. Unfortunately, relying on the Lions is no easy task.

Detroit enters its Sunday Night Football clash against a red-hot Packers team, and the betting markets have little faith in an upset. Detroit is considered +198 on the moneyline to pull off the upset.

No matter what happens Sunday, Seahawks fans can rest easy knowing they're better off after moving on from longtime quarterback Russell Wilson, and the future remains bright.
