Duke vs. NC State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 1-4-2023

The Duke Blue Devils (11-3, 7-7 ATS, 6-8 O/U) collide with the NC State Wolfpack (11-4, 6-7-2 ATS, 8-7 O/U) in an ACC rivalry battle on Wednesday night. The Blue Devils shelled Florida State on Saturday. The Wolfpack lost an ugly road decision against Clemson in their previous clash. Duke beat NC State 88-73 in the lone meeting last season.

The #16 Duke Blue Devils are looking to improve to 3-1 in ACC play. They opened conference action with a dominating home win against Boston College and struggled defensively in a road loss to Wake Forest in the next one. They answered that loss with a decisive 86-67 home win against Florida State on Saturday to cover the large 17-point spread. Duke lost to Kansas and Purdue in non-conference play. They have covered the spread in one of their last three games.

Kyle Filipowski has been hit or miss recently. The freshman center has only scored a total of 15 points in his last two performances against Wake Forest and Florida State and brings an average of 13.8 PPG and 8.6 RPG into this one. Jeremy Roach has also been inconsistent, reaching double digits in only one out of his last four clashes. The junior guard has registered an average of 12.5 PPG on 38 % shooting. Mark Mitchell is capable of solid performances. The freshman forward scored 15 points in the win against Boston College and is third in team scoring with 9.7 PPG.

The Blue Devils are ranked 15th in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and rallied one spot to 16th in this week's edition of the AP Top 25. Duke has only played in one true road game all year which was the 80-71 defeat against Wake Forest. The Blue Devils have scored at least 70 points in six consecutive games and are averaging 73.9 points on the year, landing them 147th. They are conceding an average of only 60.9 points, good for 24th.
