The Cincinnati Reds (44-67) will host the Chicago Cubs (46-65) on Saturday as their three-game series continues. Both of these teams were off on Friday after the Cubs beat the Reds 4-2 in the Field of Dreams Game in Dyersville, Iowa.
The Chicago Cubs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning Thursday, with RBI coming from Seiya Suzuki, Nico Hoerner, and Ian Happ. Nick Madrigal added the Cubs' final run with a single in the fourth inning, and the pitching staff held on. Drew Smyly tossed five shutout innings, and Rowan Wick closed out the ninth inning.

The Cubs have won four of their last six games and are third in NL Central, 15 games out of first. They hold a 1.5-game lead over the fourth-place Pirates and are just two games ahead of the last-place Reds. Chicago is 22-31 on the road this season.
Chicago will start Adrian Sampson on Saturday. In 10 games and eight starts, Sampson is 0-3 with a 3.83 ERA in 49 1/3. He is 7-17 with a 4.88 ERA in 61 career games, breaking into the big leagues with the Mariners in 2016.
