Philadelphia Flyers vs. Los Angeles Kings Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-31-2022

The Philadelphia Flyers face the Los Angeles Kings with both teams on opposite ends of the standing this season. The Flyers have a 12-17-7 record and with only three wins in their last 10 games have fallen to the bottom of the Metropolitan Division. The Kings have a 21-12-6 record and with back-to-back wins have leaped into second place in the Pacific Division. The Flyers are looking to turn their awful season around while the Kings look to remain near the top of the Western Conference and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Flyers are having a season to forget with their offense struggling immensely, scoring only 2.61 goals per game. Travis Konecny and Kevin Hayes have scored 26 goals and 38 assists while defenseman Anthony DeAngelo has added seven goals and 14 assists but the rest of the offense has been awful. Only three skaters have scored eight goals or more this season and opposing defenses can eliminate the offense with ease as a result.

The offense has been awful but the defense has also let the Flyers down, allowing 3.36 goals per game including 13 goals in the last three games. Travis Sanheim, Ivan Provorov, and Nick Seeler have combined for 4.0 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has been awful, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and find open shots on the net. The one bright spot has been the play of goaltender Carter Hart who has a .911 save percentage and a 2. 89 goals-against average on 840 shots.
