Washington has been playing absolute stellar hockey, winning 7 of their past 8 games, with the loss being a 2-1 battle with a very good Dallas Stars team. The streak has also included wins against many top NHL teams, so it has been well-earned.
They should have no issues continuing that dominance against a Senators team who are last in their division and on a 2-game losing skid. Washington knows it must win games against weaker teams, as it plays in an extremely tough Metropolitan Division within an even tougher Eastern Conference overall. There have been minimal weaknesses in this group for the past few weeks, and a young and middling team like the Senators shouldn't be causing any issues. For that reason, backing the Capitals in regulation will be the play.
