Michigan and North Carolina will be looking to extend their respective winning streaks when they square off in the Jumpman Invitational on Wednesday night. The Wolverines have bounced back from losses to Virginia and Kentucky with wins over Minnesota and Lipscomb. North Carolina is riding a three-game winning streak, including an overtime win over then-No. 23 Ohio State on Saturday.

Michigan is in desperate need of a marquee win on its resume before it opens conference play, as it has been unable to come up with one of those thus far. The Wolverines have had their chances, losing to then-No. 3 Virginia by two points at the end of November and to then-No. 19 Kentucky by four points earlier this month. They have bounced back from those losses with wins over Minnesota and Lipscomb, covering the 4-point spread in their win over the Golden Gophers. Michigan was unable to cover the 14.5-point spread in its win over Lipscomb on Saturday, snapping its three-game against-the-spread winning streak.

The Wolverines have had trouble getting stops defensively, but they have been excellent on the other end of the court. They lead the nation in turnover rate, despite being an inexperienced team overall. Their shooting numbers have been solid as well, knocking down 35.7% of their 3-pointers and 52.4% of their 2-pointers. Michigan’s two struggles on the offensive end have been a lack of rebounding and a poor free throw percentage (66.3). The Wolverines are facing a North Carolina defense that is No. 57 in adjusted efficiency. Junior center Hunter Dickinson leads Michigan with 19.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Jett Howard is scoring 15.5 points and is dishing out 2.5 assists.
