The Calgary Flames face the San Jose Sharks with both teams looking to improve from rough starts to the season. The Flames have a 14-12-6 record while the Sharks have a 10-17-6 record and with only three wins in their last 10 games, have fallen to the bottom of the Pacific Division. Both teams are looking to improve in the division and the Western Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Flames are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.00 goals per game. Elias Lindholm, Nazem Kadri, and Tyler Toffoli have scored 33 goals and 42 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Jonathan Huberdeau, Mikael Backlund, and Dillon Dube have combined for 17 goals and 37 assists while defensemen Rasmus Andersson and Noah Hanifin have added seven goals and 28 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.03 goals per game including 11 goals in the last three games. Nikita Zadorov and Noah Hanifin have combined for 3.7 defensive point shares and 95 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and find open shots on the net. The bright spot has been goaltender Dan Vladar who has step ped up with a .905 save percentage and a 2.81 goals-against average on 317 shots.
