The Ottawa Senators face the Winnipeg Jets with both teams heading in opposite directions to start the season. The Senators have a 14-15-2 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division while the Jets have a 20-10-1 record and have the second-best record in the Central Division. Both teams are looking to rebound from recent losses and improve in their divisions and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Senators are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.13 goals per game. Brady Tkachuk, Alex DeBrincat, and Claude Giroux have scored 36 goals and 59 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Drake Batherson, Shane Pinto, and Derick Brassard have combined for 24 goals and 28 assists while defensemen Thomas Chabot and Jake Sanderson have added eight goals and 21 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.16 goals per game including seven goals in the last two games. Chabot and Sanderson have combined for 3.3 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. The bright spot has been the play of goaltender Cam Talbot who has a .916 save percentage and a 2.55 goals-against averag e on 453 shots.
