California Golden Bears (0-11) vs. Santa Clara Broncos (10-3)

The 2022-23 college basketball betting action continues Sunday, December 18, with the California Golden Bears facing off against the Santa Clara Broncos in the non-conference showdown at Leavey Center in Santa Clara, California.

The tip-off is set for 5:00 PM ET, and the Broncos open as firm 11.5-point home favorites. Santa Clara meets California for the second straight year, and the Golden Bears beat the Broncos 72-60 as 1-point home favorites this past regular season.

The California Golden Bears fell to 0-11 straight up and 3-8 ATS on the season following a heavy 82-58 defeat to the Butler Bulldogs on December 10. Three days after a tough 50-48 home loss to the Eastern Washington Eagles, the Golden Bears fell apart and failed to cover an 8.5-point spread against the Bulldogs at home.

Cal trailed Butler wire-to-wire, shooting just 34.9% from the field and 14.3% from beyond the arc (3-for-21). The Golden Bears handed out a paltry six assists and committed eight turnovers, while junior guard Devin Askew and freshman forward Grant Newell led the way for California with 17 points apiece. Cal had just eight active scholarship players due to injury problems.

California is No. 349 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 259 in the KenPom rankings. The Golden Bears score just 95.1 points per 100 possessions (319th in the country) on 38.9% shooting from the field (352nd) and 25.4% from beyond the arc (361st). They allow 102.1 points in a return (168th) on 44.3% shooting from the field (256th) and 32.1% from downtown (142nd). Keep your eyes on Devin Askew, who’s tallying 18.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists a night.
