Northern Illinois Huskies (3-7) vs. VCU Rams (7-4)

The college basketball betting action goes on with another massive Saturday slate, and the Northern Illinois Huskies head to Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond, Virginia, to square off against the VCU Rams.

Northern Illinois and VCU lock horns for the first time since 1973 when the Rams defeated the Huskies 87-71. Virginia Commonwealth opens as a firm double-digit fave, while the totals are listed at 135.0 points.

The Northern Illinois Huskies (3-7; 5-3 ATS) have dropped two games in a row at Idaho 84-47 and No. 15 Gonzaga 88-67. The Huskies embarrassed themselves as slight 2.5-point road favorites against the Vandals, but they put on a fight as huge 32.5-point road underdogs versus the Zags this past Monday.

Gonzaga led by as many as 21 points, posting 19 offensive rebounds and a 16/6 assist-to-turnover ratio. The Huskies made 42.9% of their field goals and just five of their 22 attempts from beyond the arc while handing out a paltry six assists and committing 15 turnovers. Junior guard Keshawn Williams led the way for NIU with 25 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the field, and he’s now tallying 18.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in 2022-23.

Northern Illinois is No. 305 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 306 in the KenPom rankings. The Huskies score 96.3 points per 100 possessions (303rd in the nation) and surrender 108.0 points in a return (293rd). Their defense is 313th in the nation in field goal percentage (45.7%), 234th in 3-point percentage (34.1%), and 309th in free throws allowed per game (20.7).
