Having recorded just their third victory in the past 19 games, the Philadelphia Flyers (7th in Metropolitan Division) will try to win consecutive contests for the first time in five weeks while hosting the New York Rangers (4th in Metropolitan), who are riding a five-game winning streak.

The New York Rangers (16-10-5) bagged their season-high fifth consecutive victory after beating the Toronto Maple Leafs with a count of 3-1 at Madison Square Garden on Thursday. Jimmy Vesey (5 goals, 11 points this year) scored a snipe in each of the last two periods after the Leafs equalized at 1-1 with six minutes left until the first intermission following Filip Chytil’s (7 goals, 15 points) first-period power-play opener. Vincent Trocheck (10 goals, 22 points), meanwhile, nabbed two assists to reach 400 NHL points. Next – New York is heading out on a three-game road trip, currently riding a three-game winning run away from home.

Goalie Igor Shesterkin made 22 saves on Thursday to take his current performance status to 15-4-4 for the season with a 2.45 GAA and a .917 save percentage. He has posted a 4-3-1 career record ve rsus Philadelphia with a 2.23 GAA and a .932 save percentage, while Jaroslav Halak (1-6-1 on the year with a 3.04 GAA and a .888 save percentage) is 11-7-3 against the Flyers previously with a 2.38 GAA and a .916 save percentage. The Rangers, meanwhile, are 14th in least goals scored per game this season (3.06), 8th in least goals given up on average (2.74), 12th in power play (23.5%) and 9th in penalty kill (80.7%).
