The Buffalo Sabres face the Arizona Coyotes with both teams looking to improve from rough starts to the season. The Sabres have a 14-14-2 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division but have won back-to-back games while the Coyotes meanwhile have a 9-14-4 record and are near the bottom of the Central Division. Both teams are looking to make up ground in their divisions and the upcoming game should be a good one as a result.

The Sabres are having a rough season despite possessing a phenomenal offense that is scoring 3.93 goals per game with 10 goals in the last two games. Tage Thompson is scoring 24 goals and 22 assists while Alex Tuch and Dylan Cozens have added 26 goals and 36 assists to the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also been great. Victor Olofsson, Jack Quinn, and Casey Mittelstadt have combined for 24 goals and 28 assists while defensemen Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power have added 10 goals and 35 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense has let the Sabres down this season, allowing 3.50 goals per game. While Dahlin and Power have combined for 3.6 defensive point shares and 86 blocked shots, the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. The bright spot has been the play of goaltender Craig Ander son who has a .921 save percentage and a 2.71 goals-against average on 394 shots.
