A pair of blue bloods in the college hoops world take the floor when the Big Ten clashes with the Big 12 in the Sunflower State. The #14 Indiana Hoosiers are on the road as they make the trip to face the #8 Kansas Jayhawks Saturday afternoon. Indiana was knocked off 89-75 on a neutral floor by #10 Arizona in Las Vegas in their previous game last Saturday, failing to cover as a two-point underdog. Kansas rolled to a 95-67 road win over Missouri last Saturday in their most recent contest, easily covering the three-point line in the game. In the all-time series between the teams, the Hoosiers own a 7-6 advantage, including a 103-99 overtime win at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu in the most recent matchup on November 11, 2016.

Indiana lost for the second time in three games as they were taken down by Arizona in their previous game on a neutral floor. The Hoosiers fell to 8-2 overall and are 1-1 in the Big Ten as they try to get back in the win column here. Indiana was within one early before giving up a 20-2 run that left them in a 27-8 hole with 11:13 to play in the opening half. That pretty much was the game as the Hoosiers trailed by 10 at the half and could get no closer than three in the second half en route to the loss. Indiana shot 42% from the field, including 10 of 25 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 44-34. Race Thompson led the Hoosiers with 16 points in the defeat.

On the season, the Hoosiers are putting up an average of 81.4 points per game on the year, leaving them 36th in the nation in scoring offense. Indiana is collecting an average of 37.2 rebounds a night while dishing ou t an average of 17.7 assists per contest. The Hoosiers have been above average defensively, allowing an average of 63.8 points per contest, putting them 74th in the nation in scoring defense. Trayce Jackson-Davis leads the team with 16.8 points plus 8.4 rebounds per contest this season. Xavier Johnson is the only other player scoring in double figures for the Hoosiers with 10.9 points plus 5.2 assists a night. Miller Kopp, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Tamar Bates, Malik Reneau, Trey Galloway, Race Thompson, Jordan Geronimo and CJ Gunn are expected to contribute for Mike Woodson’s squad. Indiana shoots 51.1% from the floor as a team on the season, which is third in the country. The Hoosiers drain an average of 7.1 three-pointers a night while sinking 36.4% of their attempts from beyond the arc. Indiana has been mediocre at the charity stripe this season, converting 70.6% of their attempts as a team.
