The Tampa Bay Lightning face the Montreal Canadiens with both teams heading in opposite directions to start the season. The Lightning have a 19-9-1 record and with a four-game winning streak are near the top of the Atlantic Division. The Canadiens have a 14-14-2 record and with back-to-back losses are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Both teams are looking to improve within the division and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Lightning are having a great season with their offense leading the way, scoring 3.62 goals per game with 19 goals in the last four games. Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, and Brayden Point have scored 43 goals and 67 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Brandon Hagel, Alex Killorn, and Nick Paul have combined for 30 goals and 35 assists while defensemen Mikhail Sergachev and Victor Hedman have added six goals and 37 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.90 goals per game. Ian Cole and Victor Hedman have combined for 3.2 defensive point shares and 102 blocked shots while Mikhail Sergachev, Nicklaus Perbix, and Erik Cernak have combined for 4.1 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy has been great in the net with a .913 save percentage and a 2.63 goals-against average on 635 shots.
