The Chicago State Cougars will travel across the state and face the Southern Illinois Salukis in non-conference action this Friday from the Banterra Center on ESPN.
Chicago State dropped 3-9 after falling to Murray State on the road on Tuesday. The Cougars put a real scare on the Racers, nearly ending their 18-game home win-streak with a strong first half. The Cougs failed to hold off a fierce rally from the Racers and loss their second game in a row by one point.
Chicago State is scoring 66.1 points per game, while shooting 41.2% from the floor, and 33.3% from deep. Chicago State is led by a pair of sophomore guards in Wesley Cardet Jr. and Jahsean Corbett. Cardet Jr, a Samford transfer, leads the Cougs in scoring after a 25-point outing against Tenn-Martin with 16.2 ppg. Corbett double-doubled for the third time in the loss to Cleveland State, bringing his numbers to 14.4 ppg, and a team-lead 8.6 rpg. Elijah Weaver (10.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg) brings much needed experience to the lineup.
