Two teams that both have gone past regulation in their last three games will face off against each other, as the St. Louis Blues (5th in Central Division) are set to round off their back-to-back stretch with a road matchup at the Calgary Flames (5th in Pacific).
The current back-to-back set began with a victory for the St. Louis Blues (14-15-1), who triumphed for the second consecutive time, extending their point run to three outings (2-0-1) following a 4-3 shootout win against the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place last night. Jordan Kyrou (11 goals, 26 points this year) was the star of the show, bagging an involvement in each of St. Louis’ regulation snipes (1 goal, 2 assists), eventually netting the only strike of the skills competition as well. Robert Thomas (7 goals, 26 points) and Vladimir Tarasenko (9 goals, 22 points) also scored for the Blues, who have gone past regulation in their last three matchups and are 3-1-1 in their most recent five games after going with just a single victory in seven contests prior (1-6-0).
Goalie Jordan Binnington (11-11-1 on the season with a 3.21 GAA and a .894 save percentage) made 24 saves yesterday, stopping all three shootout attempts by the Oilers as well. He has posted a 3-1-0 past total versus Calgary with a 3.39 GAA and a .898 save percentage, while Thomas Greiss (3-4-0 on the year with a 3.69 GAA and a .899 save percentage) is 2-5-0 against the Flames historically with a 3.03 GAA and a .901 save percentage. The Blues, meanwhile, are 9th in least goals scored per game this season (2.90), 4th in most goals conceded on average (3.70), 23rd in power play (20.5%) and bottom of the league in penalty kill (67.1%).
