Detroit will be looking to extend its two-game winning streak when it travels to New York on Sunday afternoon. The Lions have won five of their last six games, opening up an opportunity to make the playoffs. New York has been trending in the opposite direction, losing three of its last four games.

Detroit got off to a terrible start this season, losing six of its first seven games. The Lions lost four of those games by four points or less, and they have been on the right side of variance since then. They have won five of their last six games, with the lone loss coming against Buffalo on Thanksgiving. This is the first time that Detroit has won five games in a six-game stretch since winning five straight under former coach Jim Caldwell in 2016, which was the last time that the franchise made the playoffs. The Lions can now win six of seven for the first time since 2014.

Their offense has been fantastic of late, matching a team record by scoring 25 or more points in five straight games for the first time since 1954. They have also scored 30-plus points in four of their last five games. Quarterback Jared Goff has thrown for 330-plus yards in each of his last two games, resulting in a 40-14 win over Jacksonville and a 34-23 win against Minnesota. He has completed 65.3% of his passes for 3,352 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions overall this season. Goff wrapped up a three-game homestand with 910 passing yards, seven touchdowns and zero picks. The Lions have moved up to fourth in the NFL offensively, averaging 376.4 yards per game—they are facing a New York defense that is No. 3, allowing 301.2 yards per game.
