Indianapolis Colts vs. Minnesota Vikings Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-17-2022

The Minnesota Vikings hope to get some momentum for the playoffs as they face the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings are cruising along at 10-3 while the Colts are sputtering at 4-8-1. The Colts have won 4 straight against the Vikings including a 28-11 win back in 2020. The Vikings are just 4 point favorites in this game. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m. EST on Saturday at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The Indianapolis Colts are just playing out the string at this point. They fired their coach a few weeks ago and installed former player Jeff Saturday as an unexpected choice for the new coach. I'm not going to say they are tanking, but they are going nowhere but down and should have a lot of good options when they have one of the top picks in the upcoming draft. Whether or not Saturday stays on as coach beyond this season remains to be seen. So, the Colts have lost 3 straight and they are 4-8-1 on the season.

The thing is, they are in a terrible division and could conceivably still make the playoffs. I don't see that happening, as I think they go the other way, but if they won out, they'd have a shot. The last time we saw the Colts, before a bye week, they got pummeled by the Dallas Cowboys 54-19. There were not many highlights from this one as the Colts had 5 turnovers in the game, including 3 Matt Ryan interceptions. Jonathan Taylor rushed for 82 yards while Alec Pierce caught four passes for 86 yards and a touchdown. The Colts only average 16.1 points per game, which is 31st in the NFL. They give up 22.9 points per game, which ranks 18th.
