27. That's really all you have to say about Joohyung “Tom” Kim's first PGA Tour win. 27. Yes, that's right, he shot 27 on the front nine in the final round to vault to the top of the leaderboard an d never look back.
You could see this one coming for the young 20-year-old's first PGA Tour win, at least to those that were paying attention. Kim, quietly ranked No. 34 in the world, had been playing very well heading into the final regular season event of the season and we previewed him last week as someone likely to get attention as we had him on our Strokes Gained graphic which we start every article with.
He wasn't ranked inside the top-10 as nearly two-thirds of PGA Tour winners this season have been, but he did rank No. 20 over the last three months. His last six starts included a T23 at the US Open, a solo 3rd at the Scottish Open and a solo 7th two weeks ago at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. So once again, let's see if we can zero in on the winner by previewing the best in the field…
