Anaheim Ducks vs. Montreal Canadiens Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 12-15-2022

The Anaheim Ducks face Montreal Canadiens with both teams looking to improve from rough starts to the season. The Ducks have a 7-20-3 record and with only one win in their last 10 games are in last place in the Western Conference while the Canadiens have a 14-13-2 record and are near the bottom of the Atlantic Division. Both teams are looking to rebound in their divisions and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Ducks are having a season to forget with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.27 goals per game with only one goal in the last three games. Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras have scored 21 goals and 29 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only three skaters have eight goals or more while only four skaters have nine assists or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has been one of the worst in the NHL, allowing 4.27 goals per game with 16 goals in the last three games. Kevin Shattenkirk and Cam Fowler have combined for 1.7 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. Moreover, goaltender John Gibson has been awful this year with a .896 save percentage and a 3.99 goals-against average on 756 shots.
