St. Louis Cardinals vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-10-2022

The red-hot Cardinals get set to take on the Colorado Rockies in the middle game of a three-game set on Wednesday night. The Cardinals have vaulted into first-place in the NL Central while the Rockies find themselves in last-place in the NL West Division. The pitching matchup on Wednesday night will feature a pair of left-handers as Jose Quintana (3-5, 3.39) of the Cardinals takes on Kyle Freeland (7-7, 4.56) of the Rockies. First pitch is scheduled for 8:40pm EST.

The St. Louis Cardinals are red-hot and come into this series riding high following a sweep of the vaunted New York Yankees over the weekend. Heading into Tuesday night's game, the Cardinals were 5-0 since the August 3rd trade deadline that netted the team two key starting pitchers: Jordan Montgomery and Jose Quintana. Each has earned a victory during the streak, providing the Cardinals with instant dividends. On Tuesday night in the series opener, starting pitcher Miles Mikolas was tagged for 14 hits and 10 runs as they Cardinals win streak came to a crashing halt in a 16-5 loss to the Rockies.

Former Rockies' great Nolan Arenado returns home after a scintillating week that earned him Player of the Week honors. Arenado has hit 136 career home runs as a Rockies player and brings his home run stroke with him after hitting four over the past week. The Cardinals have hit .252 over this recent seven-game winning streak and belted 11 home runs over that span. The thin Colorado air should serve them well over the next three games. On the mound on Wednesday night will be one of the Cardinals newest acquisitions, Jose Quintana. Quintana must feel like he's gone from the outhouse to the penthouse in transitioning from the Pirates run-deprived offense to the powerful Cardinals lineup. In his first appearance for the Cards, Quintana went six innings and allowed one run and one hit in picking up his 3rd win of the season and first for the Cardinals. Quintana faced the Rockies just under a month ago while pitching for the Pirates and was roughed up. Quintana we nt five innings while allowing seven hits and six runs.
