Cleveland Browns vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-12-2022

The Jacksonville Jaguars will host the Cleveland Browns on Friday. This will be the Browns' preseason opener but the second game for the Jaguars. Jacksonville lost the Hall of Fame game against Las Vegas 27-11 last Thursday.

The Brown beat the Jaguars 23-13 in the opening preseason game for both teams last year.

Cleveland is led by Kevin Stefanski, who enters his third season as the head coach. In 2021, the Browns went 3-0 straight up during the preseason and 8-9 during the regular season.

Unless you have been living under a rock or just don't follow football (and if you don't follow football, you probably aren't reading this), you know the most significant offseason story for the Browns has been the DeShaun Watson situation, and the Browns parting ways with Baker Mayfield. Watson is currently facing a six-game suspension, but NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is pushing for a year-long ban.

Watson's current suspension does not limit his preseason participation, and according to reports, Watson is expected to play against Jacksonville.

After Watson, the Brown depth chart at quarterback has Jacoby Brissett, Josh Dobbs, and Josh Rosen. Brissett played in 11 games last season for Miami and completed 62.7% of his passes, with five touchdowns and four interceptions. Keep an eye on the wide receivers for the Browns in this game, as the position appears to be one of the team's biggest weaknesses through camp, especially when Watson is not throwing to them.
