The New Mexico State Aggies are on the road as they make the trip to face the Duquesne Dukes Sunday afternoon. New Mexico State was edged 66-65 on the road by Santa Clara Wednesday night in their previous contest though they did cover the line as a seven-point underdog. Duquesne was beaten 82-71 by Marshall at home in their most recent game Thursday night, losing outright as a two-point favorite. These teams have met just once previously with New Mexico State earning an 84-74 win on the road back on December 29, 1974.

New Mexico State saw their two-game win streak snapped as they were edged on the road by Santa Clara Wednesday night on the road. The Aggies dropped to 4-3 on the season and look to get back in the win column in this contest. Against Santa Clara, New Mexico State played well for the first half, holding a three-point advantage, before going cold early in the second half. The Aggies were scoreless for the first six-plus minutes of the second half, giving up 14 straight points to trail 47-36. New Mexico State rallied to tie the game at 61 with 2:18 to play: trailing by three in the closing seconds, Deshawndre Washington hit a jumper as time expired, leaving them a point short. The Aggies shot 38.1% from the floor, including 13 of 33 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 42-34. Washington finished with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the loss.

For the season, the Aggies ar e 47th in the nation in scoring offense as they average 80 points per game. New Mexico State collects an average of 38.1 rebounds a night while dishing an average of 15.9 assists per contest. The Aggies are 85th in the nation in scoring defense as they give up an average of 64.6 points per game. Xavier Pinson leads the team with 13.4 points plus five assists a night. Deshawndre Washington (13.1 points, eight rebounds, 5.7 assists), Anthony Roy (11.6 points) and Issa Muhammad (10.8 points, four rebounds) each are averaging in double figures. DaJuan Gordon, Mike Peake, Marchelus Avery, Kyle Feit, Doctor Bradley, Shakiru Odunewu and James Back are looked at to contribute on both ends of the floor. New Mexico State is shooting 46.3% from the field as a team this season. The Aggies are connecting on 10.3 three-pointers a night while sinking 38.5% of their attempts from beyond the arc, putting them 39th in the nation.
