Creighton Bluejays (7-3) vs. BYU Cougars (8-2)

The college hoops betting action goes on with the inaugural Jack Jones Hoopfest from Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas Nevada, so we are breaking down Saturday’s marquee matchup between the Creighton Bluejays and BYU Cougars.    

The tip-off is set for 10:00 PM ET. Creighton and BYU lock horns for the second season in a row, and the Bluejays beat the Cougars 83-71 as 5-point underdogs at the neutral site on December 11, 2021.

The Creighton Bluejays (6-3; 6-3 ATS) have won their first six games of the season including a 76-65 victory over No. 21 Texas Tech and a 90-87 win against No. 9 Arkansas at the Maui Invitational. Since then, the Bluejays have dropped three straight contests to No. 14 Arizona 81-79, No. 2 Texas 72-67 on the road, and Nebraska 63-53 at home. 

Last Sunday, Creighton shocked its fans as a 15-point home fave. The Bluejays trailed the Cornhuskers for the entire second half, allowing senior forward Derrick Walker to dominate in the paint. Walker finished the game with 22 points on 11-for-16 shooting from the field, while the Bluejays went 10-for-40 from beyond the 3-point mark. Creighton got to the free-throw line only five times while posting a 15/15 assist-to-turnover ratio. Senior guard Francisco Farabello led the Bluejays with 16 points in 22 minu tes off the bench. 

Creighton is No. 21 in the AP Top 25 Poll and No. 31 in the NCAA NET Rankings. KenPom has Creighton at No. 22, and the Blue Jays rank 25th in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency (112.2 points per 100 possessions) and 30th in defensive efficiency (92.6). Creighton is a top-15 team in defensive rebound percentage, turnover percentage, and opposing free-throw rate, but the Bluejays are 334th in the nation in opposing turnover percentage and 305th in free-throw rate.
