The Pittsburgh Penguins (14-8-4, 12-14 PL, 13-13 O/U) take on the Buffalo Sabres (12-13-1, 12-13 PL. 15-9 O/U) in an Eastern Conference battle on Friday evening. The Penguins recorded a home win against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night. The Sabres clobbered the Blue Jackets on Wednesday night. Buffalo earned a 6-3 win against the Penguins last month.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are seeking a fourth consecutive victory on Friday. They went a solid 3-1-1 on a five-game homestand including losses to the Maple Leafs and Hurricanes and a win against the Golden Knights, Blues, followed by a convincing 4-2 victory against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday evening. The Penguins are now a stellar 8-1-1 in their last ten games. 

Sidney Crosby extended his point streak to six games with two goals in Wednesday’s victory. The veteran captain is having yet another outstanding season, recording four points in three games this month, and has 35 points on the year. Evgeni Malkin is also producing, collecting five points in December. The veteran center has two assists in the lone meeting against the Sabres this season and has eight goals and 17 assists on the year. Rickard Rakell is one of three Penguins with at least 10 goals. The 29-year-old winger has one goal this month and 16 points and a plus-13 rating on the season.

The Penguins have started Tristan Jarry between the pipes in four consecutive games. The veteran netminder was shaky earlier in the season but has found a groove and has registered a 2.75 GAA and a .919 save % accompanied by an 11-3-3 record on the season. Backup DeSmith has a 3.00 GAA. Pittsburgh is scoring an average of 3.5 goals, ranking them sixth. They are conceding an average of three goals, positioning them 23rd in the league.
