The past and present of the City of Angels gridiron history collide to kick off week 14 of the NFL schedule. It’s the suddenly surging Las Vegas Raiders on the road as they travel to face the fading Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football. Las Vegas won their third straight as they rallied to take down the Chargers 27-20, covering the line as a 2.5-point favorite Sunday afternoon. Los Angeles was edged 27-23 by Seattle at home though they did cover as a seven-point underdog Sunday in their previous game. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Raiders own an 8-6 advantage, though the Rams have taken two straight and four of the previous five matchups. That includes a 33-13 road win in the most recent matchup on September 10, 2018.

Las Vegas rallied from an early deficit to beat the Chargers to earn a third straight victory. The Raiders enter this game third in the AFC West with a 5-7 record though they look to climb closer to the .500 mark in this game. Against the Chargers, the Raiders trailed 7-0 after the opening quarter and 10-0 early in the second before tying the game at 10: they were down 13-10 at the half. In the second half, Las Vegas reeled off 17 straight points to take a 27-13 lead and held off the Chargers’ final two drives after they closed the gap to seven. The Raiders held a 404-386 advantage in total offense while losing the first down battle (22-21), time of possession (30:44 to 29:16) and turnover (2-1, including a pick-six) battles yet managed to win the game.

For the season, the Raiders are 9th in the league in passing offense with 241.5 yards per contest while they are 11th i n rushing offense by averaging 125.4 yards per contest. Las Vegas is 9th in scoring offense as they average 24.3 points per contest while they are 26th in scoring defense as they allow 24.7 points per game. Derek Carr is 258 of 414 passing for 2,980 yards with 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season. He has been sacked 21 times while adding 77 yards on the ground. Jarrett Stidham (eight of 13, 72 yards) is the backup quarterback. Josh Jacobs (242 carries, 1303 yards, 10 TD) has handled almost all the work in the run game while Brandon Bolden (eight carries, 34 yards) and Zamir White (12 carries, 53 yards) are next up in that department. Davante Adams leads the team with 79 receptions for 1,176 yards plus 12 scores in his first season since coming over from Green Bay. Tight end Darren Waller (16 catches, 175 yards, TD), Mack Hollins (45 receptions, 566 yards, three TD), Jacobs (42 grabs, 331 yards), Foster Moreau (25 grabs, 316 yards, two TD) and Hunte r Renfrow (21 grabs, 192 yards) have been involved in the passing game this season. Daniel Carlson is 25 of 26 on extra points and 25 of 28 on field goal attempts with a long of 57 this season.

Monday’s injury report for the Raiders was a lengthy one. Cornerbacks Rock Ya-Sin (knee) along with Tyler Hall (back), defensive tackle Andrew Billings (fibula), tight end Jesper Horsted (concussion) and linebacker Jayon Brown (hand) did not practice. Meanwhile, running backs Ameer Abdullah (hamstring), Brandon Bolden (calf) plus Josh Jacobs (quad/calf), linebacker Curtis Bolton (ankle), safety Duron Harmon (quad), center Andre James (quad), safety Isaiah Pola-Mao (ankle and defensive tackle Kendal Vickers (back) were all limited.
