NFL Odds, Lines Week 14: Roar of Lions Action has Detroit Favored over Vikings

The Detroit Lions have covered the spread in five consecutive games, and they've become the consensus favorites for this week's home game against the Minnesota Vikings. Here's an analysis of all the Week 14 NFL odds and lines.

Early betting support has come roaring in on the Lions, and they've moved from home underdogs to consensus -1 favorites against the Vikings for their Week 14 NFC North matchup.

This projects to be a fascinating spread to follow as the betting community continues to weigh in throughout the week whi le oddsmakers react to the action.

Here are the NFL spread and Over/Under lines for Week 14, and how we think the lines will move throughout the week (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook, BetMGM, DraftKings Sportsbook, PointsBet, and Caesars Sportsbook).

All look-ahead lines via DraftKings as of 9 a.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 2.

NFL Week 14 Odds and Lines: Thursday

Spread: Raiders -6

The injury-riddled Los Angeles Rams hung around with the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13 during their 27-23 defeat, whereas the Las Vegas Raiders topped the Los Angeles Chargers 27-20. What's most notable about the Week 13 results is the Raiders were underdogs early in the week but closed as the betting favorites. The Raiders have received enough early betting action to move off the look-ahead and opening numbers of Las Vegas -5.5. I'd expect the Raiders to continue being the popular side and for this spread to move further in their direction leading into T hursday.

Total: 44.5

There has been early support for the Over, and this total has climbed above the key range of 43-44. The look-ahead number was 42.5, and this total opened this week at 43. Interestingly, this is the highest total for the Rams since their Week 3 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Now that this number is above the noted key range, there's potential for buyback on the Under, and especially considering how many key Los Angeles offensive players are on injured reserve.

NFL Week 14 Odds and Lines: Sunday

Spread: Cowboys -17

Oddsmakers aren't giving the Houston Texans much of a chance at AT&T Stadium in Week 14. The look-ahead line already had the Dallas Cowboys listed as huge -14.5 home favorites, and after the Cowboys bullied the Indianapolis Colts 54-19 on Sunday Night Football, this spread reopened at Dallas -17. There will be buyback on the Texans, but it might take them receiving the hook as +17.5 under dogs. It's worth noting that Dallas scored five unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter against the Colts in Week 13 to inflate the point differential.

Total: 45

The Texans are averaging the second-fewest points per game, and the Cowboys are allowing the third-fewest, so it isn't surprising to see this total drop a point from the look-ahead number of 46. I suspect the betting action will be balanced enough on this total to keep it above the key range of 43-44.

Spread: Steelers -2

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson sustained a knee injury during Sunday's 10-9 win over the Denver Broncos, and he isn't expected to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14. As a result, this spread flipped from the look-ahead line of Baltimore -4 to Pittsburgh -1 to begin the week. Early betting support has been on the Steelers, and oddsmakers might test them as field-goal favorites if bettors continue to back Pittsburgh throughout the week. BetMGM has already made the move to Pittsburgh -2.5.

Total: 37.5

The injury to Jackson had an impact on the total for the divisional matchup between the Ravens and Steelers, too. The look-ahead number was 41, and the total reopened at 38.5 following Sunday's action. Oddsmakers might have to dip this number into the key range of 36-37 to receive action on the Over.

Spread: Lions -1

The Detroit Lions have been sneaky competitive over the past six weeks with a 4-2 record, with their two losses coming by a combined seven points to the 8-4 Miami Dolphins and 9-3 Buffalo Bills. Detroit has also covered the number in five straight games. The surge wasn't overlooked by oddsmakers, as the Minnesota Vikings were -3 favorites in look-ahead markets before opening at -2 this week. The Lions are 1-point favorites at the majority of sportsbooks as of Monday afternoon. This will be an exciting spread to follow throughout the week a fter the notable early movement.

Total: 53

Both the Vikings and Lions have played to the Over in three of their past four games to climb to a combined 15-9 Over/Under record for the season. The look-ahead total was on the key number of 51, but I expect this game to close closer to – or in – the key range of 54-55.

Spread: Eagles -6.5

The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a statement 35-10 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, and the Eagles were also bet down throughout the week to -4.5 after opening as 6-point favorites. I expect the betting community will be wary of making the same mistake again in Week 14. Even with the New York Giants sporting a 9-3 record against the spread this season, it's the Eagles receiving the early betting support, and multiple sportsbooks have moved this spread to Philadelphia -7 as of Monday afternoon.

Total: 45.5

Following the Eagles putting up 35 points against a strong Tennessee defens e in Week 13, this total has climbed slightly from the look-ahead number of 44 that was available and the opening line of 44.5. With the total now above the key range of 43-44 and well below the key number of 51, oddsmakers have wiggle room to let the betting action dictate where this number will go. However, considering the Giants have a 3-7-2 Over/Under record, I'd expect buyback on the Under if the total continues to climb.

Spread: Bengals -6
