Carolina Hurricanes (14-6-5) vs. Anaheim Ducks (6-17-3)

The 2022-23 NHL season continues with a nine-game Tuesday card, and the Carolina Hurricanes continue their road trip with a cross-conference showdown against the lowly Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

The Hurricanes meet the Ducks for the first time this season. Carolina aims for its third straight victory over Anaheim, and the Hurricanes open as heavy -260 moneyline favorites with a total of 6.0 goals.

The Carolina Hurricanes are riding a four-game winning streak following a 4-2 victory at the Los Angeles Kings this past Saturday. They satisfied the odds as -135 road favorites, building a 3-0 lead by the end of the second period. Four guys found the back of the net including Andrei Svechnikov, who now has 15 goals and ten assists on his season tally, while Brent Burns notched a couple of dishes.

”We did a great job today playing our system,” Svechnikov said. ”Just from D-zone to the offensive zone, we were moving the puck pretty fast, so that’s why I think we were successful tonight.”

Pyotr Ko chetkov guarded the cage at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The 23-year-old rookie posted 31 saves to improve to 5-1-3 on the season. He holds a sturdy 2.27 GAA and .919 save percentage, while Antti Raanta, who could get the starting call Tuesday in Anaheim, is 4-2-2 with a 2.62 GAA and .894 save percentage. The Canes are still without the 33-year-old goalie Frederik Andersen (lower-body injury).

The Hurricanes rank seventh in the NHL in goals against (2.76 per game) and 16th in penalty-killing percentage (78.2%). They are 23rd in goals for (2.88) and 27th in power-play percentage (16-for-89). The Canes lead the league in high-danger scoring chances (62.9%), but their shooting percentage of 8.2 is the second-worst in the NHL.
