After netting at least two snipes in 15 straight outings prior, Detroit was forced to settle for a single marker courtesy of Oskar Sundqvist (4 goals, 10 points this year), who cut the initial 2-0 lead of the Knights in half with a power play strike midway through the second period, only for Vegas to add its third tally five minutes later, finishing off the game with an empty-netter three minutes from time. The Red Wings go on the road for their next four matchups, having posted a 2-0-1 total on their past three travels.
Goalie Ville Husso stopped 21 shots yesterday to take his current performance status to 9-4-3 for the season with a 2.61 GAA and a .910 save percentage. Alex Nedeljkovic (2-3-2 on the year with a 3.97 GAA and a .880 save percentage), though, is set to patrol Detroit’s crease tonight, having registered a 3-1-2 career total against the Columbus Blue Jackets with a 2.25 GAA and a .920 save percentage. The Red Wings, meanwhile, are scoring the 16th highest number of goals per game in 2022-23 (3.13), while allowing the 15th highest amount defensively (3.13). They are 19th in power play (20.9%) and 15th in penalty kill (78.8%).
