The 2022 Major League Baseball season continues on Monday, Aug. 8 with several intriguing matchups. One game that fans are going to want to watch is a collision between the Cincinnati Reds (44-63) and New York Mets (70-39).
While the Reds have been far from a good team this year, they've been playing much better baseball in recent weeks. They've found victories in six of their last eight games, including back-to-back wins over the Milwaukee Brewers this past weekend.
On the other hand, the Mets are also on quite the run. New York has gone 12-2 in its last 14 games, increasing its lea d in the NL East race in the process. The Mets previously won a three-game series, 2-1, against the Reds this season, leaving time to tell if history will repeat itself.
Former 2016 first-round pick Justin Dunn gets the start in his first game for the Reds this season. Meanwhile, Cincinnati gets the pleasure of taking on Mets right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt.
