Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-7-2022

The Arizona Diamondbacks (47-58) will host the Colorado Rockies (47-62) on Sunday in the second contest of their three-game series. The Rockies have won six of the first 11 head-to-head games in the season series, but Arizona won the opener on Friday 6-5, after trailing 5-2 heading into the seventh inning. These clubs met again on Saturday night, but that game was not complete at the time of this preview.

The Colorado Rockies are 4-12 since the All-Star break and have lost six of their last seven games. Colorado took an interesting approach at the trade deadline by not making any significant moves. It was a head-scratching decision for a team that seems to lack direction for the future and is not close to postseason contention. The Rockies' top player C.J Cron (.276 AVG, 22 HR, 72 RBI), could have been a useful piece for a contender for sure.

The Rockies pitching staff is 28th overall with a 4.99 ERA, and Jose Urena (1-3, 4.66 ERA) will make the start on Sunday. He is 0-1 with a 4.12 ERA in five road games this season. The Colorado bullpen behind him is 29th with a 4.74 ERA.
