Syracuse vs. Boston College Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-26-2022

It has been a long season for the Boston College Eagles, but they will try to end on a high note when they host ACC foe the Syracuse Orange on Saturday. The Eagles are a dreadful 3-8 on the season and 2-5 in the ACC while the Orange are 6-5 overall and 3-4 in the conference. The Orange beat the Eagles 21-6 last season and the two teams have split their last four matchups head to head. The Orange are favored in this one by 10.5 points. Can the Eagles pull off the upset?

It seems like a distant memory now, but at one time the Syracuse Orange were 6-0. That run included ACC wins over Louisville, Virginia, and NC State, and they also beat the Big Ten's Purdue and a scrappy UConn team that beat Boston College. But then the wheels came off. The Orange have lost 5 in a row since then, including losses to Clemson, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Florida State, and Wake Forest, who beat them last week by the score of 45-35. Syracuse was a 9.5 point underdog. So now Syracuse sits at 6-5 overall and 3-4 in the ACC, second to last in the Atlantic Division just ahead of BC.

The Orange scored a couple of garbage touchdowns to make this final look respectable, but in reality, it wasn't very close. Ultimately, they gave up 543 total yards to Wake Forest and that just won't get it done. The Eagles did manage 477 yards themselves, but a lot of that was in garbage time. The Demon Deacons had 36 to 21 first down edge. Garrett Schrader was just 17 of 31 for 324 with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. The brightest light for Syracuse has been running back Sean Tucker, who had another good game with 106 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Oronde Gadsden had 6 catches for 85 yards while Devaughn Cooper and LeQuint Allen each had touchdown catches. The Orange rank 71st in points scored with 28 points per game and they rank 36th in points allowed giving up 22.6 points per game.
