The Colorado Avalanche face the Dallas Stars with both teams off to great starts to the season. The Avalanche have a 10-5-1 record and have won seven of their last 10 games. The Stars have an 11-5-2 record and have won back-to-back games. Both teams are looking to remain near the top of the Central Division and the Western Conference and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Avalanche are having a great season with offense stepping up and scoring 3.56 goals per game. Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen have scored 16 goals and 35 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Artturi Lehkonen, Evan Rodrigues, and Logan O'Connor have combined for 17 goals and 10 assists while defensemen Cale Makar and Devon Toews have added five goals and 25 assists from the point to overwhelm opposing defenses.

The offense has been great but the defense has also been great, allowing only 2.50 goals per game with only two goals allowed in the last two games. Makar and Toews have combined for 2.6 defensive point shares and 58 blocked shots to lead one of the league's best defensive pairings while Erik Johnson, Bowen Byram, and Josh Manson have combined for 2.3 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Alexandar Geor giev has been great in the net with a .930 save percentage and a 2.45 goals-against average on 385 shots.
