San Antonio Spurs (6-10) vs. Los Angeles Lakers (4-10)

The 2022-23 NBA betting action continues Sunday in this Western Conference battle when the San Antonio Spurs take on the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

This is a battle of two clubs off to shaky starts. San Antonio lost their third straight game when they fell to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday, 130-112. San Antonio takes on the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, but that contest is not included as part of this analysis. The Lakers won their second straight game when they defeated the Detroit Pistons on Friday, 128-121. This is the first meeting between these teams this season. The clubs split the four games last year.

The San Antonio Spurs (6-10, 9-7-0 ATS) dropped their fifth straight game on the road and third overall when they fell to Sacramento on Thursday, 130-112. After winning their first three road contests of the year, the club moved to 3-5. The Spurs shot well in the contest, hitting 54.8% of their shots, but Sacramento hit 13 more free throws in the game.

“They were just a better basketball team,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “They’re really buying in.”

The Spurs coach was not kidding, as Sacramento hit 57.8% of their shots and were 22-24 from the free-throw line. Devin Vassell led San Antonio with 29 points, hitting 11 of 19 shots. He is second on the team at 20.4 points per contest, but is listed as questionable for this game. Leading score Keldon Johnson (22.7 ppg) has an ankle injury, but is listed as probable for this contest.  Jakob Poeltl and Romeo Langford are both out.
