Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Chicago Blackhawks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-20-2022

NFL Round Table Show

The Pittsburgh Penguins face the Chicago Blackhawks with both teams off to rocky starts to the season. The Penguins have an 8-7-3 record but have won back-to-back games while the Blackhawks have a 6-8-3 record and with three losses in a row are near the bottom of the Central Division. Both teams are looking to improve in their divisions and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Penguins are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.65 goals per game. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have scored 16 goals and 26 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Jake Guentzel, Jason Zucker, and Rickard Rakell have combined for 22 goals and 21 assists while defenseman Kris Letang has added a goal and eight assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has been awful, allowing 3.59 goals per game. Jan Rutta and Marcus Petterson have combined for 1.8 defensive point shares and 49 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to generate shots on the net at will. The bright spot has been the play of backup goaltender Casey DeSmith who has a .910 save percentage and a 2.86 goals-against average on 222 shots.
