NFL Round Table Show

Miami and Providence will both be looking to stay unbeaten when they square off in the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Hurricanes have won all three of their games by double digits, but they were favored by double digits in all of those contests. Providence has been in the same boat, although it only beat Rider by one point as a 13-point favorite in its season opener.

Miami head coach Jim Larranaga will go for career win No. 700 on Saturday afternoon. He enters this tournament with a 699-475 record, including a 229-141 mark in his 11-plus seasons with Miami. The Hurricanes have a chance to improve to 4-0 to open a season for the first time since 2018-19. They have won their first three games by double digits, although they only covered the spread in one of those victories—a 79-65 win against UNC Greensboro as 10-point favorites last Friday. Their most recent outing was an 87-61 win against Florida A&M, as they narrowly missed covering the 32-point spread.

Senior guard Jordan Miller leads Miami with 15.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, while junior guard Isaiah Wong is averaging 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists. Arkansas State transfer Norchad Omier has made an immediate impact for Larranaga’s team, averaging a double-double with 12.7 points and 11.0 rebounds. He scored 21 points in the win over Florida A&M on Tuesday. The Hurricanes have an effective field goal percentage of 56.0 so far this season, and their offensive rebounding numbers rank inside the top 50 nationally. They like to push the ball in transition, which could be an interesting dynamic against a Providence team that does not play up-tempo that often.
