Detroit Lions vs. New York Giants Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-20-2022

The New York Giants play host to the Detroit Lions on Sunday in a crucial NFC showdown from MetLife Stadium. The Lions come in having won two in a row and are hoping to somehow continue to move closer to the potential playoff picture. For the Giants, there appears to be life toward the top of the NFC East standings and with five wins in their last six games, they'll be looking to keep ground with the Eagles atop the division. The Lions have won two in a row and three of four, dating back to 2014, but this Giants team is going to be far more difficult to take down than any of those previous ones were.

The Lions come into this weekend playing their best football of the season and with two wins in a row, they have their eyes on finding a way to continue to climb up the NFC standings. Granted, last week's game came against the Bears, which is far from the most difficult of opponents in the league this season, though back-to-back wins in the NFL is nothing to be shy about. One concern is the Lions hvaing to be on the road for the second-straight week and the Giants are bound to be a much more obstacle than what the Bears were able to put up. With the Bills coming up next, any chance at the playoffs likely requires an upset on Sunday in this one.

D'Andre Swift (shoulder) remains the most notable name on the injury report, as has been the case for the last few weeks, though he appears to be probable for the weekend. Jamaal Williams (illness) is questionable, as is DJ Chark Jr. (ankle), while the offense struggles every week to remain healthy. On the defensive end, it's great news that Malcolm Rodriguez (elbow) is probable.

The good news is that New York's middling offense isn't likely to pose many issues to Detroit through the air, though stopping them on the ground could be problematic. For the offense, continueing to move the ball could come in handy in this one. The Lions rank in the top ten in the league in numerous offensive categories and they could at least put a scare into the Giants in this one. Jared Goff has been strong but the running back duo is where success starts and ends with this group. One to keep an eye on though is Amon St. Brown, who can change Sunday's game in a hurry.
