The Miami Heat pay a visit to the Washington Wizards at the Capital One Arena on Friday night.
The Miami Heat have been in decent form as they’ve won five of their past eight games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after having their three-game win streak halted by the Raptors in a 112-104 road loss on Wednesday. Max Strus led the team with 20 points on six of 11 shooting, Kyle Lowry added 19 points on six of nine shooting while Gabe Vincent chipped in with 16 points and five assists off the bench. As a team, the Heat shot 54 percent from the field and 13 of 35 from the 3-point line as they controlled the first half to build an 11-point lead, only to see their lead disappear in the third quarter where they were outscored by 30-19. The Heat needed more scoring from Jimmy Butler who scored just 13 points in 38 minutes of action, but their biggest problem was taking care of the ball as they finished with 23 turnovers.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards were riding a four-game win streak before getting stopped in their tracks by the Thunder in a 121-120 loss on Wednesday. Kristaps Porzingis led the way with 27 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Bradley Beal added 25 points with six rebounds and six assists while Kyle Kuzma chipped in with 18 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 51 percent from the field and 17 of 34 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half to lead by as many as 17 points, before getting run down in the fourth quarter that could’ve gone either way as they had the lead in the final seconds.
