The Calgary Flames are on the road as they make the trip to face the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday night. Calgary comes in off a 6-5 home victory over Los Angeles at home on Monday night in their previous contest. Tampa Bay downed Dallas 5-4 in overtime at home Tuesday night in their most recent contest. In the last 10 meetings, the Lightning own a 6-4 advantage though the Flames picked up a 4-1 victory at home in the most recent matchup back on March 10, 2022.

Calgary won their second straight game as they won a wild contest at home with the Kings in Cowtown Monday night. The Flames entered Wednesday fifth in the Pacific Division, 10 points behind Vegas for the top spot in the division race. Calgary is 16th in the league in goals for as they put up an average of 3.13 goals per contest. The Flames are 22nd in the league in goals against by allowing 3.33 goals a night this season. Calgary is tied for 19th in the league in power play success as they convert 20% of their chances with the man advantage on the year. The Flames are 8th in the league in penalty killing as they successfully navigate through 81.7% of their shorthanded situations.

Against the Kings, the Flames lit the lamp early and often en route to securing the victory at home on Monday night. Calgary was outshot 13-9 in the opening period of play but th ey took a 4-2 lead to the dressing room at the first intermission. Jonathan Huberdeau opened the scoring with his second goal of the season at 3:49 off assists from Rasmus Andersson and Noah Hanifin. After giving up a pair of goals to trail 2-1, Andrew Mangiapane knotted the score with his third of the season at 10:55 off assists from Milan Lucic and Nazem Kadri. Only 42 seconds later, Brett Ritchie gave the Flames a 3-2 lead with his fourth goal of the year off an assist from Blake Coleman at the 11:37 mark. Tyler Toffoli extended to a 4-2 edge with his sixth goal of the year at 16:25 off assists from Elias Lindholm and Adam Ruzicka. In the second period, Calgary held a 13-4 advantage in shots on goal while outscoring Los Angeles 2-1 to take a 6-3 lead after 40 minutes. Lindholm made it a 5-2 game with his sixth goal of the year, on the power play, at 1:51 off assists from Toffoli and Kadri. After the Kings cut the deficit to 5-3, Ruzicka scored his second goal of the year at 16:36 off assists from Lindholm and Toffoli. In the third period, Calgary was outshot 12-4 and outscored 2-0 though they managed to hang on for the victory. Jacob Markstrom made 24 saves for the Flames, who held a 30-29 edge in shots on goal, in the victory. He is expected to get the start in goal again here.
