The Brooklyn Nets invade the Moda Center to do battle with the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their past seven games, but they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting blown out by the Kings in a 153-121 road loss on Tuesday. Kevin Durant led the way with 27 points and six assists, Edmond Sumner added 18 points while Cam Thomas chipped in with 12 points off the bench. As a team, the Nets shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 28 from the 3-point line, but they didn’t match the urgency of the Kings early on and quickly found themselves in deep trouble after allowing 73 points in the first half. Things only got worse in the third quarter where they allowed another 42 points to trail by as many as 39 points at one stage.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers have been in great shape as they’ve won four of their past five games and they will be looking to stay hot after sneaking past the Spurs in a 117-110 home win on Tuesday. Jerami Grant drained six 3-pointers on his way to 29 points on nine of 15 shooting, Anfernee Simons added 23 points while Damian Lillard chipped in with 22 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 51 percent from the field and 15 of 32 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the pesky Spurs for three tight quarters, until the fourth quarter where they held the Spurs to just 21 points to pull away and escape with a hard-fought victory.
