The Houston Rockets are off to a terrible start in what will be another season in the midst of this rebuild, in hopes of landed generational talent Victor Wembanyama. Dallas is on the other end of the spectrum, off to an 8-5 start and looking to compete for a title this season.

Mavericks vs. Rockets Prediction & Pick

Dallas with be without Luke Doncic in this one, but that shouldn't quell their chances to come away with a win in this one. Dallas is 3-2 in its last five games and nearly unbeatable at home this season, holding an 7-1 record at American Airlines Center. Dallas' points per game have been down this season, but they still score more than Houston, slightly more. While Dallas' defense has been great of late, holding opponents under 95 points twice in the last five games and never surrendering more than 112. Houston has given up at least 116 in each of its last five contests.

Mavericks vs. Rockets Best Bet

With Luka Doncic out, those shots and that usage has to go somewhere else. Few others on the Mavericks have the ability to both handle the ball and create their own shots out of it. Spencer Dinwiddie is best equipped to do so. We saw Jalen Brunson excel in a similar role with Doncic out last season, now that should fall onto Dinwiddie. He is averaging 18.3 points per agme this season, but with Doncic's numbers now on the sidelines, I expect at least six of those points to head Dinwiddie's way, especially against such a bad defensive team like Houston.
